According to the UN, we produce more than 2 million tons of solid waste every year. However, only 17% of that waste is recycled. With that in mind, we’ve put together some tips to help you manage your waste responsibly.
– Separate organic waste from recyclable waste. Organic waste should be composted or disposed of in the regular trash. Recyclable waste, on the other hand, should be sorted into glass, plastic, aluminum, and paper.
– Put recyclable waste in the correct bin. If you live in a city with separate collection, sort your waste according to the color of the bin. If your city does not have separate collection, sort your waste by material.
– Contact your local city hall to find out how recycling works in your city. City halls usually have websites where you can view the collection schedule and a map of the city showing the locations of recycling bins.
– Be aware of items that cannot be recycled. Some items cannot be recycled, such as CDs, DVDs, stoves, and refrigerators. Therefore, separate them from recyclable waste and dispose of them in the regular trash.
By following these tips, you’ll be helping to create a more sustainable world.
